I’ve ben using Icomoon for ever. It suits perfectly my design workflow, and helps me create/add awesome scalable vector icons, customizable with a little bit of CSS.
The other day, Prepros creator Subash Pathak suggested a similar icon font generator to me. It’s called Fontastic, and it does all the things Icomoon offers in terms of functionalities, including icon selection, icon import, character mapping, css class mapping… and it has over 1700 icons available.
The main difference is as Subash pointed it out to me: the design. Fontastic’s look and feel is so much more subtle and cozy than Icomoon’s.
Test it out, you’ll love its minimal approach, the easy access to the icon pack’s licences, the clear install instructions, and you surely will appreciate switching to a different icon font provider, especially if you’ve been using the same one for ever like I have.

Thanks for this great review Flo!
I’m glad you’ve noticed the effort we’ve put in the design: we wanted that creating a font become a fun experience, especially for non techies designers.
We will continue in this direction, and make it even more easy.
You’re welcome Vincent. Great app indeed.
